KK&H came back from Blockbusters with two movies… it turns out that we’d already seen both of them, and one of them quite recently. <sigh>

Maybe we’ve seen all of the good movies that BB has?

9:17 pm

I’m suffering from car lag. 26.25 hours after our journey ended, I’m still in a daze.

Gotta get back to the affordability project. It’s been scaled down and time-extended. They didn’t do ANY work on it while I was gone. That’s good news and bad news. Good news for the bank account… bad news for any free time I thought I might have.

On the bright side, however, if the Odyssey keeps generating mega repair bills, I should be able to afford to buy a new car. I wonder if hybrids are available with manual transmission (my preferred ride).

When we over-nighted in Marquette, Michigan, the Lamplighter motel guy said that Bush was due to arrive in a few days or so. Bush can’t win Michigan. So, rather than campaign down in the lower peninsula where thousands have lost jobs and are otherwise reeling due to Bush’s failed economic policies, he’s focusing on the U.P., which has lots of hunters and NRA members. It’s not at all clear why he went to MI at all, however, given the fact that the electoral college results in winner-take-all.

On election day, if you’re eligible to vote, Vote! Help re-defeat Bush. Maybe we can keep him from claiming victory this time around. Four more years of Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld and Bush (CARB) might be more than our constitution and the world can withstand.

Help put the U.S. on a NO CARB diet!

Sheehy Honda called… the “check engine” light on the Odyssey was stuck on. Sometimes, this can be due to a loose gas cap. No such luck.

The catalytic converter is shot. $850 worth of shot. This means that with the “minor” things I’m having done, the tab will be about $1,000.

Elyria, Ohio, 9:35 pm

I think I’m living in the wrong climate. Colorado, above 12,000 feet, is so much more tolerable. I’m not looking forward to returning to the DC area. Fall and winter cannot come too soon.

Coming down from Saginaw, we Packo’ed in Sylvania, then Tofted in Sandusky. No sight-seeing.

Tomorrow… it’s back to the grindstone.

7:04 am EDT in Saginaw.

Today, we head down into Ohio, and back to Virginia on Wednesday. While part of mess looking forward to getting back, I’m not looking forward to the heat and humidity, or possibly having to deal with the unfinished deck enclosure. It’s significant that we haven’t heard anything from OHI in the nearly three weeks that we’ve been gone.

Monday, 10:50 pm

We’re in Saginaw, Michigan. Had a lunch picnic in Pictured Rocks National Seashore, and dinner from Mancino’s Pizza. It was pretty pedestrian. They’re a “local” (to Michigan, I’m guessing) chain.

Last night we were in Marquette, MI, sans internet, at a small motel called the Lamplighter. It wasting, but clean.

En route today, we went to the PENS and to Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Got some good pictures at both. Maybe I’ll post some later on.

Today, we finished A Sudden Change of Heart. We had lots of fun making fun of the author’s odd and excessively repetitive ways of characterizing various things. The narrator’s pronunciation and inflection was odd at times, too. Katie thinks I should be a professional book reader for “Books on Tape” and “Books on CD.” Now… I wonder how one gets such a gig, as well as whether it would compensate sufficiently.
