Iran has declined to suspend the enrichment of uranium. Not to be outdone, the Bush administration has declined to suspend the enrichment of Halliburton.

According to an article on MSNBC, Vice President Dick Cheney made an unannounced visit to Pakistan Monday to press for President Pervez Musharraf's help in combating a new Taliban offensive in Afghanistan and a resurgent al-Qaida. In an unrelated story, Shifa International Hospital is reporting that six newborn babies are ...

If you go with Dan Brown and some other recent novelists aspiring to be historians, JC had a daughter who ultimately fled to France. Archeological evidence uncovered in 1980, however, seemingly suggests that JC, his mother, his wife, and his son were all buried in a family crypt in Jerusalem. ...

It's 34°. It's a winter wonderland!
This is a view out my office window.
As of about 1 pm, we had 4 to 5 inches of heavy wet snow in the yard. The NWS, who completely blew the forecast vis-Ã -vis snow, now forecast an additional 2 to 5 inches. Hard to know. ...

Experiments have found that an average person tells about two lies every 10 minutes. Also, those who lie frequently have the best intentions and think they are benefiting others.
The source is Robert Feldman, who ...

We're in Durham, NC. We thought it might be fun to bop down and give a listen to the minister whose complaint led to the resignation of you-know-who. If you don't know who, tough. In any case, we're going to Eno River UU tomorrow. The sermon is about family values. ...

I looked at the HP a1730n yesterday at Micro Center. Its "experience" numbers looked good top and bottom, but graphics looked pretty weak because of the shared memory aspect of the 6150 LE, which can "borrow" up to 399MB of the computer's 2GB of RAM. Not only is that borrowing ...

It happens every time. For the past week, it's looked like we would get an all-snow weather event. Then, the promise of warmer air at the surface rears its ugly head, and the snow degenerates into "wintry mix" before the first snowflake falls.

From up here, it looks like about 1.5 inches, tops. Yet, it was enough to convince FCPS to close schools today. Wimps. To be fair, all of the other suburban counties closed today, too. Only the urban ones—DC, Alexandria, and Arlington—didn't close. And those are opening two hours late.
This the ...

It's been snowing for about an hour now and it's 21 degrees. The NWS says we'll get 1 to 2 inches. That'll probably be enough at least for a two hour delay for FCPS tomorrow. It doesn't take much for those wimps.
The Potomac is frozen in spots. Not frozen enough ...
