Three ospreys and an island

March 18, 2009 17:34 – 17:34

Yesterday, I decided to do my hike down at the Occoquan National Wildlife Refuge. They have a couple of nests there—one natural and the other built on a human-made support. Until yesterday, I hadn’t seen any birds in the nest. But, yesterday, I was finally able to determine that they’re osprey nests.

There were two more on the human-made structure:

There’s also this little island about a half mile off the tip of the point at Occoquan. I’ve no clue what it’s called (if it even has a name) or what the structure on it is.
