Sarasota in the Sun

February 12, 2013 01:19 – 01:19

I’m at a new Comfort Suites in Sarasota… last night and tonight. This Comfort has decent internet speed—about 25M… at least 200 times faster than the place in Brunswick, GA. The trip down from Brunswick was uneventful—no traffic problems. I stopped at Zaxby’s for one of their wonderful chicken salads. I hope they spread north sometime soon.

This morning, I met Pat Bossman at the Phillippi Estate Park in Sarasota. It’s a small park, so it didn’t take us long to walk around it. We then headed for the marina, and walked across the Ringling Bridge to Bird Key, Ledo Key, and St. Armand’s Circle… and back. Unfortunately, Pat got a little sunburned in the process. I almost never burn, and fared better.

This evening, Pat and Darbi had me over for dinner—it was delicious… especially the strawberry shortcake made with homemade angel food cake.

After dinner, I came back to the hotel and wrestled with Mappoint 2013 for about an hour. Apparently, something I installed over the past day or two messed it up. A lot of uninstalling and reinstalling finally got it working again.

I put out additional inquiries for a rental house in Cape Coral.. hopefully, there’ll be some positive possibilities. If not though, I’ll stay here for another night, and book a hotel further south. My plan is to head down to the Everglades, then the Keys, and go back north via the east coast of Florida. I’m supposed to sing at MVUC on February 24th, and I need to be back for a rehearsal on the 23rd. Of course, if there’s a massive snow storm back home, that might change things.
