Albuquerque to Aurora (CO)

October 14, 2014 10:18 – 10:18

I’m at the Springhill Suites Denver at Anschutz Medical Campus, which is actually in Aurora. The internets here are acceptable—about 7Mbps down and up. It was in the 30s overnight, but it’s supposed to be in the 70s, so today will be another shorts day.

I made one stop along the way from Albuquerque to Aurora, at the Maxwell NWR. It’s definitely not a hot weather hiking location. There is no shade whatsoever, so a hat was needed. White-crowned sparrows seemed to be in residence there yesterday. They were being very shy, though, so I didn’t get any pictures good enough to share. Grasshoppers seemed to be in season:

I stopped at the cleverly-named Lake No. 13. There were lots of ducks and other waterfowl, but I didn’t get close enough for picture. Still, the sky, clouds, and other scenery were lovely.

Oh… and there was snow in the background.

Tonight, I’m reserved at the Fairfield Suites in Grand Island, Nebraska. I’ll be using points. As point properties go, this one will be a cheapie—only 10,000 points (and I have about 25K).
